Come experience the annual Chuck Wagon Cookoff at Clabough's Campground in Pigeon Forge, TN!
At this beloved local event, visitors can see how cowboys used to cook in the days before modern conveniences like running water and electricity. You can even enjoy food made from recipes back in the 1800s cooked on cast iron skillets and dutch ovens on hot coals. Cowboy cooks are judged on their cuisine and the historical accuracy of their chuck wagons.
The meal will be served at noon and tickets for lunch are $12.50. More than 10 chuck wagons will be in attendance. These mobile kitchens help to preserve the culinary tradition of the old west and provide a great opportunity to learn about America's history.
There are free activities scheduled throughout the day included a Buckaroo Roundup for children of all ages, cowboy look-alikes from famous western films, and western poetry and music from Andy Nelson and Marchal Andy. You can even enjoy a cowboy breakfast from Kent and Shannon Rollins out of the Red River Ranch Chuck Wagon.
Come enjoy some authentic cowboy cuisine and learn what life and food were like in the days of the old west!
