  • Wonderworks Museum for the Mind welcomes wheelchair visitors to enjoy their unusual and unexplained interactive exhibits. Elevators provide access to second floor exhibits. Service animals are welcome also. Signage with instructions and explanations of exhibits are present for the hearing-impaired

  • Although there is much to see and do within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, not all of the park is accessible by individuals with disabilities. Cades Cove Loop offers an 11-mile scenic loop road past many settler structures and early churches with ample room to unload a wheelchair. Half way through the loop is the Cades Cove Visitor Center with handicapped parking, restrooms and drinking fountains.  There is a wheelchair ramp leading into the one-story building housing historic artifacts and displays. Sugarlands Visitor Center is handicap accessible, with wheelchairs available. There are ranger-led programs and a movie about the plants and animals in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park that is close-captioned. Folks can stroll and roll along the half-mile paved Sugarlands Valley Trail. The All-Access Nature Trail, at New Found Gap Road, is designed for disabled visitors, young children and senior citizens. Families can enjoy picnics at several picnic sites throughout the park with handicapped-accessible facilities; Cades Cove, The Chimneys, Cosby and Metcalf Bottoms are a few of these locations
